I must hear this response 9 times out of 10 when a person learns I’m in the National Guard. And it makes me really fucking happy.
When we’re introduced to a person who is fulfilling a given role at a given moment, it’s easy to assign that role to the individual as an identity. In actuality, you’re only seeing a facet of a complex, wonderfully multidimensional being.
Let’s all agree to remember that every single person is probably ten other people. Fighting ten other battles.
And also…wear as many goddamn hats as you please. Just make certain you do your best to wear them all really well.
